Meet Our Tree Care Experts
We, Melissa Breen and Kelby Nelson, the owners of Alliance Tree Care Inc., proudly present our team of advanced tree experts in Minnesota.
Tree Care Experts - Melissa Breen - Owner
Melissa has over 24 years of experience in the industry, having worked formerly at Timberline Tree Service, which closed in 2019. She grew up in the White Bear Lake area and graduated from White Bear Lake High School.
Her dedication to building a long-standing and personal relationship with each customer makes her a rarity in the field. Melissa enjoys learning all aspects of the industry.
She is frequently on-site, supporting the crew in any way she can. At the same time, she is expanding her expertise to pursue certifications in every area of the tree care industry, which led her to establish a tree maintenance company in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.
Melissa is committed to continuous learning, regularly attending programs such as the Shade Tree Short Course at the University of Minnesota each March to stay current with evolving industry standards and emerging trends. She also participates in the annual Tree Care Industry Association Expo, where she gains further education and insight into the latest practices shaping the tree care profession.
Melissa was granted a woman-owned small business certification in 2020. Melissa also holds multiple government certifications and memberships in the tree industry.
When she’s not working, you can find her taking in the natural beauty of Minnesota, camping, fishing, hiking, but most of all traveling the world and spending time with her family and friends.
Tree Care Experts - Kelby Nelson - Owner
Kelby has over 25 years of experience in the industry. Kelby believes that the betterment of all trees will provide a healthier environment for future generations, hence he spearheaded a plant health care company in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. He enjoys advancing his knowledge by being a member of the International Society of Arborculture and the Minnesota chapter of the Society of Arborculture.
Likewise he is also a member of the Tree Care Industry Association and Kelby is dedicated to continuous learning, regularly attending programs such as the Shade Tree Short Course at the University of Minnesota each March to stay current with evolving industry standards and emerging trends. He also participates in the annual Tree Care Industry Association Expo, where he gains further education and insight into the latest practices shaping the tree care profession.
When he’s not working, he is training for and competing in the annual MSA tree climbing competition. Outside of work and training, Kelby is an avid outdoorsman and passionate sustainable hunter of all things, spending much of his free time in the woods and fields pursuing game and enjoying nature. Most of all, he loves spending as much time as possible co-raising his daughter with Melissa on their ranch.
Tree care experts - Carson - Lead Groundsman
One of our tree care experts is Carson. He has always had a passion for the outdoors, which started at a very young age, growing up on his family’s farm in Stillwater, MN. He has always been an avid outdoorsman, appreciating hunting, hiking, and camping with his family.
That strong enthusiasm for the outdoors led him to his desire to mix the outdoors with a career. Carson shared his love for the outdoors with his love for computers, leading to his degree in 3D animation and modeling. After his degree, Carson learned that he didn’t want to be strapped to a desk, and he could have both of the things he enjoyed by working outdoors by day and working indoors by night.
Our tree care expert, Carson, is the lead groundsmen in charge of the staff, equipment maintenance, safety protocols, and assisting the climbers in any way possible. He has been with Alliance since the beginning, and we wouldn’t know what to do without him. We look forward to his advancement within not only the company but within the tree industry.
Tree care experts - Tim Morgan - certified arborist specializing in plant health care and consultations.
Tim started to expand his love for trees and the outdoors during his full time career as a Dakota County youth corrections officer in 2002. His physical stature made it easy for him to become one with the trees as a climbing arborist. It didn’t take long before he conquered that position while working for a handful of other local tree services and went out on his own.
Tim has worked closely with the city of St. Pauls Forestry Department board, holds multiple certifications and licenses including but not limited to his Arborist Certification and MN Pesticide License.
One of Tim’s finer points is his thirst for knowledge and his passion for teaching. He’s helped 100s of young adults through his love for trees and he is an invaluable asset to the tree industry. Time enjoys spending his time with his two children and wife along with outdoor activities such as dirt biking, snowmobiling and traveling.
Tree care experts - Jeff Anderson - Crane operator
Jeff started working with cranes in the oil fields in the mid 70s. To advance his knowledge and experience he began working with his brother in law in the early 80s using cranes to assist in setting trusses for new construction and moving heavy loads, machines and goods for a variety of purposes.
His use of a cranes during storm clean up and trees allowed him to venture off and start to use cranes for technical tree removal projects. Something that the industry had never done before back in the 80s.
Jeff started using his cranes to do primarily tree removal work in 1989 and has not only been a true innovator in the use of crane work with the tree industry, but a teacher as well. Jeff enjoys spending his off time with his two children and parents while maintaining his family horse farm.
Tree care experts - Austin
One of our tree care experts is Austin. Austin’s passion for the outdoors started when he was young and has only grown stronger over the years. He loves spending time with his family, especially at their cabin, where they enjoy hunting, fishing, and making memories together year-round. When he’s not outdoors, Austin can often be found blacksmithing—shaping metal into unique creations—or longboarding, which lets him enjoy both adventure and relaxation. His wide range of interests reflects his love for both tradition and excitement, making the most of every season.
Tree care experts - Erik
One of our tree care experts is Erik. Erik has always enjoyed spending time outdoors and continues to find joy in it today. He loves trout fishing, which gives him the chance to relax, challenge himself, and connect with nature. In the winter months, Erik has a passion for snow skiing, where he embraces adventure and the thrill of the slopes. When he’s not outdoors, he enjoys spending time with his family, as well as hanging out with his girlfriend and their dog. Whether he’s skiing, fishing, or simply making memories with loved ones, Erik values the simple things in life and makes the most of every season.
